Dr. Toshi Hart on Discovering the Root Cause

This week on Vivos Voices, we visited with Dr. Toshi Hart, an exemplary dentist and passionate Vivos Integrated Provider (VIP).

Dr. Hart primarily serves her community as a pediatric dentist. After years of service, she began to notice a unique agricultural issue based on the location of her practice. “I live in an agricultural area, and there are pesticides and poor air quality, and so children have an extremely high rate of decay,” she shared. “I spent most of my time filling teeth, and I realized that even if I filled the cavities, the kids were still getting more cavities.”

In addition to poor teeth quality, Dr. Hart noticed that many of her young patients were grinding their teeth and experiencing poor nighttime habits that she had no explanation for—that is, until she learned more about the development of the orofacial structure. Now, with The Vivos Method, she can look at things differently and holistically.

“I look at the root cause, and I find that much of dentistry and even medicine is dealing with downstream effects,” said Dr. Hart. “I feel like I’m making such a significant impact in dealing with the root cause of things, which is a small airway, a small jaw.” These are things that The Vivos Method addresses, seeking to change the course of patients’ lives forever.

“It’s an amazing time to be involved with Vivos and sleep and breathing. And there’s a whole community out there. I think this is prime time for medical doctors to be open to that, and Vivos offers an amazing treatment program that makes it easy for everyone.”

My name is Toshi Hart, and I practice in Modesto, California. I’m a general dentist, and I have been for the past 20 years, limiting my practice to children. So the biggest problem in my area is decay. I live in an agricultural area, and there are, uh, pesticides and poor air quality, and so children have an extremely high rate of decay. I spend most of my time filling teeth, and I realized even if I fill the cavities that the kids were still getting more cavities. They were grinding the teeth and having nighttime habits that, you know, I had no explanation for. So I look at things a different way. I look at things with the root cause, and I find that much of dentistry, and even medicine, is dealing with downward or downstream effects. And so I feel like I’m making such a significant impact in dealing with the root cause of things, which is a small airway, a small jaw. And so, I feel like my practice has grown even though we were shut down for seven weeks during covid. We made an immediate recovery, and I do attribute it to Vivos. It’s pretty astounding. It’s an amazing time to be involved with Vivos and sleep and breathing, and there’s a whole community out there. I think this is prime time for medical doctors to be open to that. And Vivos offers an amazing treatment program that makes it easy for everyone.
