ADA Letter - March is Sleep Awareness Month

March is Sleep Awareness Month

March is Sleep Awareness Month, and as dental professionals, you play a crucial role in helping patients get the restful sleep they need. Poor sleep can lead to a host of health problems, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and depression. As a dentist, you are uniquely positioned to help your patients identify and address sleep-related issues. Here are a few reminders and Tips for screening patients in your office.
  • Are you screening all of your patients? Screen patients for OSA risk factors: During routine dental exams, ask your patients about snoring, daytime sleepiness, and other symptoms of OSA. Use your Sleep and Breathing Questionnaire.
  • Recommend a sleep study: If you suspect a patient may have OSA, send them home for a sleep screening to determine a baseline. This will help confirm the diagnosis and determine the severity of the condition. Also on a state-by-state basis.
  • Has your patient watched the Patient Education Meeting? Knowledge is key for your patients to understand the impact that OSA has on them and their family members.
  • Work with other healthcare professionals: Treating OSA often requires a team approach. Dentists can work with sleep specialists, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the care they need.

As dental professionals, you have a unique opportunity to help your patients get the restful sleep they need to maintain good health. By staying informed about sleep disorders and working with other healthcare professionals, you can make a real difference in the lives of your patients.

See what our VIPs and their amazing team members are saying about The Vivos Institute!

Very professional and probably the best seminar experience that I have ever had.

The section I found the most impactful was Myo. I learned more from Leigh-Ann in a few hours than I did in my 28-hour course.

The team was accommodating and friendly. The food was great. This course surpassed my expectations.

I came in with little knowledge and left feeling more confident in teaching others about Vivos.

The courses were helpful, and going back to the office to get things started, I feel like I can be a great help.

Very professional and probably the best seminar experience that I have ever had.
